Uber has launched a service that provides safe and convenient transport solutions specially for Indian teenagers between the ages of 13 and 17 years, called Uber for Teens. The service has been launched across 37 cities in the country, including Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Chandigarh, Lucknow, and Bhubaneswar.
The product comes equipped with parental supervision over the rides booked, GPS tracking, real-time tracking and an in-app emergency button.
Parents need to set up a Teens account so they can request rides on behalf of their kids and then track them.
“We recognize the unique transportation challenges faced by teenagers and their families in India. With Uber for Teens, we are committed to addressing these challenges by providing a service that parents can trust, and that teens will find easy and cool to use,” Prabhjeet Singh, President, Uber India and South Asia said.
Parents with a verified Uber account can invite their teen kid to join the app. The teen can then setup their own account and add their parents as a guardian.
The service was initially launched in 2023 in the U.S. and later expanded to other countries.
