Google could reportedly be adding an AI Mode to their Search app soon to make the experience more like the Gemini AI chatbot. A new report by 9to5Google has shared that they spotted unreleased code that suggested the upcoming feature.
AI Mode combines the live chat feature of Gemini Live with Google Search along with the image analysis feature of Google Lens. This means users will be able to respond to the search results that come up and ask additional questions and interject in between responses.
The AI Mode tab can be seen on the bottom navigation bar of the Google app and has a microphone button for voice input. Users can also upload photos or take them and explain what they are searching about.
The report also clarifies that it isn’t confirmed if Google will ever ship these features. If eventually added, Google Search would become interactive for users in a multimodal way.
A few weeks ago, Gemini Live was made available for free to all iOS and Gemini users.
