Japanese company to demo futuristic bathing capsule in 2025

Japanese shower-head maker Science Co. is getting ready to demo an AI-powered bathing capsule that can clean and dry off people who sit inside it, reported the news outlet Asahi Shimbum.

The AI-powered capsule that the company dubs a futuristic “washing machine” for humans is still being developed for real-time use. It will be exhibited during the Osaka Kansai Expo in April 2025, where visitors who sign up can try it out.

Called the ‘Mirai Ningen Sentakuki’ (literally, future human washing machine), the product was inspired by a much older prototype that never entered mainstream production.

The original model, called the ‘Ultrasonic Bath,’ was presented by Sanyo Electric Co., which is now Panasonic Holdings Corp.

The newer ‘Mirai Ningen Sentakuki’ bathing capsule is designed like the cockpit of an aircraft and lets a person sit inside the mostly transparent cabin.

It measures their vitals and uses this information to soothe the person with projected images and customised bath temperatures.

There are also plans to release an edition that can be used at home.
