Google Drive upgrades document scanner with new feature on Android

Google Drive is adding a new automatic “Enhance” feature for its document scanner on Android. After capturing an image, users can use the tool on the Preview screen for white balance correction, shadow removal, contrast enrichment, auto sharpening, light improvement and other editing features.

The company had upgraded its document scanner with a custom camera that had auto capture mode and a revamped editor. There were also editing tools to apply filters, crop and rotate images and clean stains and other marks. Users were also able to save images in JPEG files and in a black and white filter.

The improvements have been made so users don’t need any manual editing and are able to make images of receipts, documents and ID cards clearer.

The new update is being rolled out gradually and users are advised to make sure they’re running the latest version of Google Drive on their Android phones to avail it. The feature will be available for Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers and users with personal Google accounts.
